Canada: Performance measurement evaluation for risk management of dichloromethane

October 14, 2022

On October 14, 2022, safety measurements and evaluation was performed for dichloromethane (also known as methylene chloride, or DCM) by the Canadian authorities, exposures to which have been suspected to pose a risk to human health. In cosmetics, the substance is used as solvent and can be found in products such as shampoos, conditioners, and styling lotions, among others. The effectiveness of risk management actions on long-term indoor air exposures to this substance could not get conclusively evaluated due to lack of comparable exposure information.
