Denmark: New requirements for stability studies for products sought to be approved under the Biocidal Products Regulation

December 6, 2022

In conjunction with the revision of Technical Agreements for Biocides Analytical Methods, Physico-Chemical Properties, and Physical Hazards (APCP) Version 3.0, September 2022, new standards for establishing the durability of biocidal agents have been implemented.

Before submitting a request for approval of a biocidal product or family to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (DEPA), a long-term stability study must be performed. If this is not the case, the DEPA will offer applicants 30 days to commence the research and provide the first product measurements.

If no data  are available within the timeframe specified, the DEPA may deny the application. In the nine-month evaluation phase, long-term stability must be demonstrated.
