EU: Draft regulation to ban microplastics set to be debated at upcoming EU REACH meeting in September 2022

On August 30, 2022, the European Commission released a draft proposal to restrict intentionally-added microplastics which could possibly ban the use of synthetic microplastics in sports fields, cosmetics, cleaning products, pesticides, etc. The transition periods for companies to adapt to this new law can be as long as 12 years. This draft proposal will now be debated at the EU REACH Committee on September 23, 2022.
