Health Canada: Screening Assessment Silver and its Compounds- August 2022

Screening assessment of Silver and its compounds (like Silver nitrate, Silver chloride, Silver bromide, Silver sulfate, Silver oxide and Silver sulfide) was conducted by environment and health authorities in Canada. Upon conducting rigorous test and surveys, its was revealed that silver and its compounds are of low concern at the current levels of exposure in the general Canadian public. Hence, it was concluded that the seven substances in the Silver and its Compounds Group do not meet any of the criteria set out in section 64 of Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) and hence unlikely to pose long-term harmful effect on the environment.
