According to newly enforced rules by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), washing and cleaning products (detergents) must comply with rules on the environment, biodegradability, and labelling, which align with the EU Detergents Regulation. Detergent label should mandatorily contain names of all ingredients, preservatives, perfumes, instructions for use, dosage instructions and hazard description (hazard symbols). The products’ website page should contain information on product's ingredients. or on a safety information sheet, or both. Requirements for testing biodegradability of surfactants are also specified.
