U.S. EPA warns of health risk from ethylene oxide exposure

U.S. EPA has issued warning against potential health risks from emissions of ethylene oxide used in medical sterilizing plants across the U.S. including 13 states and Puerto Rico. The EPA said in its notice that such medical sterilizing operations using ethylene oxide pose an elevated risk of cancer and other ailments. The notice follows a recent survey of emissions data from almost 100 commercial sterilizers nationwide.
