China: NHC revises OELs of certain hazardous chemicals exposed at workplaces

A notification to update standard "GBZ 2.1-2019 Occupational Exposure Limits for Hazardous Agents in the Workplace Part 1: Chemical Hazardous Agents" was published by China's National Health Commission (NHC) on November 28. Trimethyltin chloride levels will now be biologically monitored in workers and OEL and level for significant adverse health effects for benzene are updated. A national standard called GBZ 2.1-2019 outlines the concepts for testing, evaluating, and controlling occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals in the workplace. It established biological exposure limits (BELs) for 28 hazardous chemicals, occupational exposure limits (OELs) for 358 hazardous chemicals, and limits for 49 different types of dust and biological agents.
