Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Report Published by the White House

March 14, 2023

A status report on the science study on PFAS was published by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).

The study summarises current PFAS research in important strategic areas, including safe PFAS elimination and destruction, safer PFAS substitutes, and PFAS information gaps.

Additionally, it discusses the current status of federal PFAS research and development (R&D) and emphasises the significance of collaboration between local communities, the business sector, and governments at all levels in order to advance our country's knowledge of PFAS and possible substitutes.

Over the coming year, OSTP will collaborate with federal agencies to use this report as a roadmap for setting goals and priorities for federal PFAS research and development, utilising current federal PFAS research initiatives, and accelerating transformative advancements in the removal and disposal of PFAS, the creation of PFAS substitutes, and in our comprehension of the detrimental effects of PFAS as a chemical class on human health and the environment.
