ECHA Updates Registry of Classification and Labelling (CLH) Intentions with the Chemical Octocrilene

January 29, 2024

The French government is implementing a restriction on the use of octocrilene, a chemical used as a UV filter in cosmetic ingredients, due to potential environmental risks. The restriction is aimed at preventing contamination of freshwater and seawater, as well as human drinking water. The Dossier Submitter is seeking stakeholders' input on the restriction, and if justified, may propose derogations. The submission date has been postponed due to internal planning considerations. The restriction report and annexes are also under review. The Commission's draft opinion and background documents are also being prepared.
