June 29, 2023

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the United States announced a framework for addressing novel and emerging uses of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The framework outlines EPA's planned approach when reviewing new PFAS and new uses of PFAS to ensure that, before these chemicals are permitted to enter the marketplace, EPA will conduct a thorough evaluation to ensure that they do not pose a threat to human health and the environment. The framework supports the Biden-Harris Administration's commitment to addressing the impacts of these forever chemicals and advances the EPA's PFAS Strategic Roadmap to address the human health and environmental dangers associated with PFAS pollution.
