Michigan Senate Bill Proposes Ban on Flavored Tobacco Products

December 7, 2023

Michigan is considering a bill to ban the sale of flavored tobacco and vaping products, despite the FDA's lack of finalization. Senate Bill 649 proposes a ban on products with distinct flavors, except unflavored tobacco. It also prohibits the sale of products indicating distinctive nicotine or tobacco flavors. Retailers may face fines if they violate the regulation, with fines potentially reaching up to $1,500. A new fund will be established to conduct compliance inspections.
