Restriction proposal on N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC) and 1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-one (NEP)

June 28, 2023

There is a high worker exposure potential in DMAC and NEP. DNELs should be lower, and restriction as appropriate RMO, consistent with NMP and Italian restriction proposals.
Manufacturers, importers, and downstream users of the substance on its own regardless of whether DMAC, NEP are a main constituent, an impurity, or a stabilizer) or in mixtures in a concentration equal to or greater than 0.3% must include in their chemical safety assessments and safety data sheets by a worker-based harmonized Derived No Effect Level (DNEL) value for long-term inhalation exposure and a Manufacturers and downstream users must implement appropriate risk management measures to ensure worker exposure remains below the DNEL(s) specified.
