Slovenia's Ministry of Health Proposes Amendments to Tobacco Restrictions to Enhance Public Health

March 6, 2024

On March 6, 2024, Slovenia's Ministry of Health proposes amendments to tobacco use restrictions. This ban prohibits the use of characteristic smells in heated tobacco products and their components, as well as technological elements that alter the smell, taste, or strength of smoke, similar to what already applies to cigarettes and rolling tobacco. It also includes informative and composite health warnings on the packaging of heated tobacco products.

The goal is to limit the flavors in electronic cigarettes, prevent tampering by minors and young people, and improve public health. The proposed measures aim to accomplish the goals of the Strategy for Reducing the Effects of Tobacco Use for a Tobacco-Free Slovenia 2022–2030.
