DCPC seeks public to comment on Quality Control Orders for 10 Chemicals

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals plans to enforce Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for following 10 chemicals from February and March 2024.The QCO mandates adherence to quality standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Manufacturers, importers, and sellers must obtain BIS certification, mark products with the BIS Standard Mark, maintain production records, and allow inspections. Non-compliant products may be seized, and penalties like fines, imprisonment, or license cancellation can be imposed. The enforcement dates for mentioned chemicals like Morpholine is 01.02.2024, for Acetic Acid, Methanol, Aniline is 03.02.2024, and for Pyridine, Gamma Picoline, Beta Picoline, Potassium Carbonate, Acetone, Sodium Tripolyphosphate is 13.03.2024.Industry comments are requested by 30th December 2023.
