India: Fifth daft for Chemical Management and Safety Rules (CMSR) formulated

India has released the fifth draft of the Chemical (Management and Safety) Rules (CMSR) which will replace two rules currently in place– Manufacture, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemical Rules, 1989, and the Chemical Accidents (Emergency Planning, Preparedness and Response) Rules, 1996. It is formulated on the grounds of EU REACH regulation. The CMSR shall apply to all substances, substances in mixture, substance in articles and intermediates that are manufactured, imported, or placed in the India. It requires manufacturers, importers or Authorized Representatives to notify new and existing substances and register substances that need registration.
