Ministry of Environment Announces Revision of Standards for Displaying Recycled Raw Material Proportions

The Ministry of Environment has announced the change of criteria and techniques for showing the proportion of recycled raw materials in Notice No. 2023-726, asking public comments by January 1, 2024. The legislation attempts to specify criteria for determining the use rate of recycled raw materials in containers and goods, including limitations on the proportion of recycled raw materials as well as the design, standard, and technique for displaying the recycled raw material use ratio. Individuals and groups are encouraged to express their views, including grounds for objection and contact information, either online or to the Ministry of Environment's Resources and Recycling Division.
