Vietnam Issues Ecolabel Criteria for Environmentally Friendly Plastic Packaging

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) has issued (Decision No. 3257/QD-BTNMT) Vietnam Ecolabel criteria for environmentally friendly plastic packaging, primarily composed of polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP).
 
For Biodegradable plastic packaging: biodegradation rate of packaging is at least 90% for a period of 02 (two) years in a natural environment, compost or in a yard landfill solid waste.
 
For Recycled plastic packaging: at least 20% of packaging materials are from recycled plastic made, with a thickness of 50 μm or more, with a minimum size of 50 cm or more in each direction.
