Chemicals added to the AIIC Inventory 5 years after issue of assessment certificate

June 19, 2023

The Australian Department of Health is in charge of the database known as the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC). It is an important part of the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS), a system that controls the production and imports of industrial chemicals in Australia.

The AIIC acts as a thorough database of all chemicals that are marketed for use in Australia. It contains substances that have undergone NICNAS evaluation in addition to those that are exempt from notification obligations. The inventory offers details on the classification, identification, and Australian regulatory status of chemicals.

  • Due to the passage of five years since the issuance of the industrial chemicals' assessment certificates, the following industrial chemicals have been added to the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals in compliance with Section 82 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019. The CAS number of certain substances is written in brackets.
  • Chemical Name: Linseed oil, polymer with bisphenol A, p-tert-butylphenol, formaldehyde, maleic anhydride, and tung oil (2922740-42-7).
  • Chemical Name: Poly(oxy-1,4-butanediyl), alpha.-hydro-.omega.-hydroxy-, polymer with 5-isocyanato-1-(isocyanatomethyl)-1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexane (39378-01-3)
