Authorization of Trihydrogen Pentapotassium Di(peroxomonosulfate) Di(sulfate) as an Active Ingredient in Biocidal Products in the European Union

The European Commission has approved the use of pentapotassium bis (peroxymonosulfate)bis(sulfate) as an active ingredient in biocidal products of product types 2, 3, 4, and 5. The European Chemicals Agency (ECA) has renamed the active ingredient, trihydrogen pentapotassium di(peroxomonosulfate) di(sulfate), during the assessment process. The Agency's opinions on applications for the approval of active substances were adopted by the Biocidal Products Committee on June 6, 2023. The Agency's conclusions suggest that biocidal products containing trihydrogen pentapotassium di(peroxomonosulfate) di(sulfate) should meet the requirements outlined in Regulation (EU) No 528/2012's Article 19(1), point (b) if specific usage guidelines are followed. The Standing Committee on Biocidal Products' opinion is supported by the actions outlined in the Regulation. The regulation will become operative on the twentieth day after its publication in the European Union Official Journal and will be binding in its entirety.
