ECHA publishes PFAS restriction proposal

February 7, 2023

Five Authorities presented the idea to ECHA. It attempts to eliminate PFAS emissions into the environment and improve the safety of products and processes.

All PFASs within the proposal's scope are extremely persistent in the environment. People, plants, and animals will be progressively exposed if their emissions are not reduced, and without a restriction, levels will be reached that have detrimental impacts on human health and the environment.

In March 2023, the ECHA's scientific committees for risk assessment (RAC) and socio-economic analysis (SEAC) will confirm that the proposal complies with REACH's legislative standard.
