Postponing the Expiry Date of Boric Acid in Accordance with Regulation (EU) No 528/2012

The European Commission has postponed the expiry date of the approval of boric acid for use in biocidal products of product-type 8 by Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 to  to 31 August 2026. The decision was made after consulting the Standing Committee on Biocidal Products. It contains the following information:Boric acid was included in Annex I to Directive 98/8/EC and was considered approved under that RegulationIn February 2020, a renewal application was submitted, and the 365 days was suspended for 180 days unless a longer suspension is justified by the requested data or exceptional circumstances. The Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/1288 postponed the approval's expiry date to 28 February 2024, allowing sufficient time for the application's examination. The decision was adopted on 12 January 2024 and will take effect on the twentieth day (i.e on 5 February 2024) following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (16 January 2023)
