EU Commission to improve protection of workers with new exposure limits for lead and diisocyanates

January 13, 2023

The European Commission proposes to amend two Directives:
1) the Directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens, mutagens and reprotoxic substances at work
2) the Directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to chemical agents at work.
In the context of advancing the transition to climate neutrality, the proposed changes will also be crucial for worker protection from lead and diisocyanates, that are likely to be used in the production of batteries and processes to make electric vehicles lighter, in wind turbines, and as insulating materials during building renovations, for instance.
