Russian Government Proposes Increasing Import Tax on E-Cigarettes

Russia's Customs and Tariffs Regulations Committee supports raising the import tax on e-cigarettes from 0% to 5%, according to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia. The proposal will be submitted to the Eurasian Economic Commission. The Russian Ministry of Finance is also in favor of increasing the import tariff on reusable e-cigarettes from 0% to 5%, aiming to balance these products with disposable electronic device import tariffs. The Ministry of Economic Development acknowledges that the Russian Federation Audit Chamber has previously recommended the proposal and plans to send it to the Eurasian Economic Commission for further study.
